Albrecht Durer was a German painter, engraver,
printmaker, mathematician and theorist from Nuremberg. His vast body of work
includes altarpieces, religious works, numerous portraits and self-portraits,
and copper engravings. Durer has been conventionally regarded as the greatest
artist of the Northern Renaissance.
The Virgin Mary at Prayer is oil on panel in the Northern Renaissance style. It
is now on display at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, Gemäldegalerie, Berlin,
Germany.
